Walk through the forests of Slangenburg! General Frederik Johan van Baer, who resided at Slangenburg from 1657 to 1713, carried out large-scale renovations to the castle. But he also adapted the area around it. The estate was expanded by approximately 67 hectares. In keeping with the fashion of the time, he had straight lanes and forests laid out in geometric patterns. Seen from above, the lane system around the castle has the shape of a double trapezium.
There are beautiful walking routes in and around the Vesting Naarden. Whether you are interested in culture and history or love nature, there is a route available for everyone.
