Open Monument Day 2022

On September 10 and 11 it is Open Monumentendag again in the Netherlands! During the 36th edition of this popular event, many Monumentenbezit monuments also open their doors. Monumentenbezit is organizing some specific events on Saturday, September 10. You can find more information about those below.

Gotisch Huis in Kampen 

Monumentenbezit organizes guided tours of the Gotisch Huis. Normally closed to the public, now you get the chance for a unique insight into this old merchant's house in the center of Kampen. 

Date: September 10, 2022
Start times: 10 a.m. (VOL) 11:00 a.m. (VOL), 12:15 p.m. (VOL), 1:30 p.m. (VOL). Each tour lasts 45 minutes.

Details: Accompanied by a guide, a maximum of 12 people can participate per tour. Due to safety concerns, visitors must wear a construction helmet, which is available for you at the Gotisch Huis. You can register via info@monumentenbezit.nl. Full = full. You will receive a confirmation by email, which is also your entrance ticket.

Ruïne van Nuwendoorn

The ruin has not been open to the public for some time, but efforts are underway to open it permanently from spring 2023. What's special is that you can already take a look at it this year with Open Monument Day!

Ruïne van Teylingen

Stichting Oud Sassenheim (SOS) is organizing a "Jacoba Festival" in the Ruïne van Teylingen. There will be two performances about the life of Jacoba of Bavaria. Jeroen van der Werf of Monumentenbezit will give a guided tour for those interested at 2:30 p.m.

Activities at our other monuments:

  • St. Baafskerk Aardenburg
    On Saturday, Sept. 10, guides will be present all day to explain all the beauty in the church and you can climb the two towers under the guidance of guides. (Not under 12 years of age) On Sunday, September 11, there will be a beautiful concert at 16:00. Click

  • Sint Lievens Monstertoren Zierikzee
    The Sint Lievens Monstertoren - also known as the Dikke Toren - is open to climb from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. From noon-15 p.m., a musical trio will also perform: Strange Brew. Click HERE for more information.
  • Naarden Fortress Museum
    The Vestingmuseum will have the cannons roaring on Sunday! At 2 and 3 p.m., the captain tells about 1815 after which the cannoners go to work hard. For the Netherlands and Orange! Click HERE for more information.
  • Ruïen van Strijen
    On Saturday and Sunday, the normally enclosed tower grounds will transform into a busy medieval tournament field. There will be damsels riding around on horseback and swordsmen practicing their martial arts. Guides and storytellers will also be on hand to tell the story of the Castle Tower, as the tower is also called, its heyday under Willem van Duvenvoorde and its later decline. The Sword Circle will conduct workshops at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. (both days). The Sword Circle specializes in 15th century sword art, in both historical and modern contexts.   • Grote Kerk Veere
    Visit the Grote Kerk Veere on Saturday and Sunday at a reduced rate (€5 instead of €9.50). Climb the tower and view the beautiful projection of 100 years of Veere.   • Schotse Huizen Veere
    Visit the museum at the Schotse Huizen Veere at a reduced rate! And the normally closed basement of Veere City Hall is open. Learn about the building history of the Town Hall and the function of the dreaded old cell. Do you dare go in? Click

  • Castle Tower IJsselstein
    In the Kasteeltoren all children will find a booklet with all kinds of fun things to do and discover. The Reageerman Fedor van Rossem also takes you back in time, in life-size videos divided over the different floors of the tower. Traveling to Bologna as an IJsselstein nobleman, what was it like, 500 years ago? Between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. you can participate in the sound performance Tower Voices by Ienke Kastelein - by probing the space in the tower with your voice, searching for the echoes together with others by listening - preferably with your eyes closed.
