Null
During the summer months, our monuments will once again be programming all sorts of fun activities. From concerts to sword fighting, there is something to experience throughout the Netherlands. Via our monument page, you can see all our monuments and read more about the history of the building.
From all the beautiful offers we have made a selection for you. Here are some nice tips for the summer holiday!

Birds of prey at Nuwendoorn
In earlier times, falconry was an essential part of noble life, such as at Huys te Nuwendoorn. On a number of dates, the falconer transforms the ruin into “the Eagle’s Nest” and lets his beautiful birds fly freely. Come face to face with impressive birds of prey and learn all about their fascinating history.
Tickets at 6 euros per person can be purchased on site. Check the website for the dates on which the falconer will come to the Ruins of Nuwendoorn.

Overnight stay on an estate
Wake up with a view of Slangenburg Castle? This summer you can! You can book an overnight stay in one of the castle houses on the estate in the middle of the lush Doetinchem forests.
In the past, the stable master lived in the castle houses. This person was responsible for the maintenance of the carriages and the care of the horses. The round gravel path on the grounds still refers to the time when carriages drove around in front of the door every day.

An interactive experience
An exhibition full of innovative AR and VR tools: discover the history of the Zeeland town of Veere in a unique way. From projections to audio tours. In the Grote Kerk Veere you experience the stories through all kinds of media. In the summer months you can also climb to the top of the tower of the gigantic church, which gives a beautiful view over Walcheren.
You can order a ticket online or buy it at the counter. An extra fun for families, because this outing is free for children up to and including 12 years old!
Music in a castle garden
At the 13th century Assumburg Castle everything is enchanting; the grand entrance, the beautiful halls, the moat. Behind the castle you will find a beautiful garden. The creation of the garden began when Jean Deutsz bought the castle 300 years ago. He had the castle renovated and a symmetrical baroque garden laid out that suited his social position and the beauty ideals of that time.
During the summer months, free concerts are held in the garden. Check the agenda for more information. There is also a free guided tour of the castle garden.
Sword fighting tournament
The Ruins of Teylingen consist of the remains of the 13th century castle Teylingen. At the beginning of the Eighty Years' War (1568-1648) the castle was set on fire and partially destroyed. The residential tower was restored afterwards and was used as a prison, but after a fire in 1677 the damage was not repaired. Nowadays the beautiful ruin is the setting for sword fighting and knightly tournaments.
The sword fighting tournament at the Ruins of Teylingen will take place on July 20, 2024 and July 21, 2024. Check the website for more information.
Scavenger hunts
At the visitor center de Gele Loods in the Naarden Fortress you can pick up (free) treasure hunts. Discover the history of the Naarden Fortress in an adventurous and educational way. Whether you are a little detective of 4 years old or a tough explorer of 12 years: with these treasure hunts you will discover all the secrets of the city.
