New phase of Trompenburgh restoration

Dec. 21, 2022

Monumentenbezit Foundation receives €452,601 from the Province of North Holland for the next phase of restoration of the main house of Buitenplaats Trompenburgh. The province distributed nearly €5 million in subsidies to 48 national monuments without a residential function in North Holland. The province considers it important for national monuments to be preserved and accessible to the public. The restorations and repurposing contribute to this.

From 2020 -2023, a multi-year restoration of Buitenplaats Trompenburgh in 's Graveland is underway. Four components will be worked on during the multi-year project: Releasing the monumental paintings, restoring the seventeenth-century garden, widening the opening to the public and reducing CO2 emissions. Thanks to the Province of North Holland, work can now continue on the next phase.

Robin Koot, Monuments Property Project Manager: "In this phase of the restoration, we are continuing work on the interior. That includes uncovering more paintings in the intermediate section. We will also replace the lead and zinc work on the roof and replace the woodwork where necessary. Due to insufficient ventilation, fungus is forming in the woodwork. This work was not planned, but fortunately we can now tackle it simultaneously with the interior."
