From May 2025, Buitenplaats Trompenburgh will temporarily open its doors for an exclusive look behind the scenes. Until 31 August, visitors can take a unique tour of this special monument every weekend, to get acquainted with its rich history and restoration. The proceeds from this opening will benefit the restoration work.

Country estate with a story

Trompenburgh country estate in 's-Graveland was built in the 17th century for Admiral Cornelis Tromp (1629-1691) and his wife Margaretha van Raephorst (1625-1690). Much has been preserved, with the domed hall as the highlight. This is a smaller version of the Orange Hall of Huis ten Bosch Palace, the only other 17th-century domed hall in the Netherlands. Until now, the country estate has rarely been open to visitors. High time that changes, according to the owner Monumentenbezit.

A major restoration

Since 2020, work has been underway on an extensive restoration of Buitenplaats Trompenburgh. The monumental building is being restored and made more sustainable, the historic garden is being renovated and the estate as a whole is being prepared for its final opening to the public.

Unique behind-the-scenes look contributes to restoration

During the exclusive opening, a guide will lead visitors around the building and the dome hall, with stories about the architecture, history and the restoration. Monumentenbezit is happy to offer visitors the unique opportunity to experience the building in its current state, a snapshot that will no longer be visible after the completion of the restoration. The proceeds from this opening will be used entirely to support the restoration that is yet to be carried out, so that this heritage is preserved for the future.

Groups, business or private, can visit Buitenplaats Trompenburgh at this stage on request.
