The roof of Slangenburg Castle revisited
January 20, 2026
In 2024, the roof structure of Slangenburg Castle was examined from an architectural history perspective, leading to new hypotheses about its construction history. In March 2025, these assumptions were tested using dendrochronological research. The results were surprising and shed new light on the history of the roof's construction. This publication discusses the results of the tree-ring research, the consequences for the earlier hypotheses, and the revision of the castle's construction phases.
