Plans for the Ruins of Brederode
Null
On October 31, 2024, the official transfer of the Ruins of Brederode, a historical icon located in Santpoort-Zuid, took place. The transfer from Heerlijkheid Brederode to Monumentenbezit marks the beginning of a new chapter for the centuries-old monument. We take over responsibility for the exploitation and will commit ourselves to opening up the ruins.
The opening of the Ruins of Brederode is not an isolated event. Monumentenbezit has now put together a team that is responsible for the opening of multiple public locations, including Kasteel Radboud and Kasteel Slangenburg.
Next season
In the coming months we will work to prepare the monument for the new season. From April 2025, according to the regular schedule, we will open the gates to the public again. Then visitors can once again enjoy the special history, architecture and natural environment around the castle ruins.
Monumentenbezit wants to keep the rich history of the ruins alive and accessible for a wide audience. The Ruins of Brederode are a popular cultural location, and that is why the programming will remain as usual for the first year. However, existing exhibitions will be given a makeover to let the story be experienced in a contemporary and informative way.
In addition to the historical experience, the ruin will also remain a nice place to relax with a cup of coffee and a unique location to celebrate special moments, such as weddings.
Together with local stakeholders
We currently have good contact with volunteers and local residents. In the coming year we also want to get to know other stakeholders. The goal is to shape the future of the ruins together and create a meaningful experience for visitors.
We listen to the knowledge and ideas of people who are familiar with this area, so that a solid foundation is created and there is support for further developments. We take the time to get to know the place and the visitors well, so that new initiatives optimally match the unique atmosphere and historical value of the monument.
