Stichting Monumentenbezit is temporarily taking over the management of Kasteel Oud Wassenaar. With this we want to protect this special heritage from further decay and ensure that the castle remains future-proof.

Looking back at 2025
In 2025, we took various measures to stabilize the technical condition and make the castle temporarily accessible to visitors. This was achieved by, among other things:

• minor maintenance;
• research into the cultural-historical and architectural values of the castle;
• organizing cultural and social gatherings.

's plans for the future We have carefully examined various scenarios for new functions. The development of a master plan is now in full swing. This plan lays the foundation for the future-proof preservation and social use of the castle. In the coming months, we will be working on:

• Further plan development and financing for the first phase of restoration
• Collaboration with the municipality of Wassenaar, the Heritage Table, and other partners

We see plenty of opportunities to further shape our involvement in the future of the castle. For this reason, the management agreement for Monumentenbezit has been extended by six months.
